GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Studii şi cercetări de onomastică şi lexicologie/ Studies and Research in Onomastics and Lexicology (SCOL), an annual publication since 2008, continues the tradition of onomastics research at the University of Craiova, research initiated by the late Professor Gheorghe Bolocan, who was the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Studies and Research in Onomastics (1995-2003).

As constant fields of interest for linguists, onomastics and lexicology reflect the unity and diversity of language, both synchronically and diachronically. In SCOL, the two domains are delimitated, although their interference is often obvious.

The journal contains articles, book reviews and presentations, thus offering the opportunity for Romanian as well as foreign philologists (researchers, teachers, doctoral and master’s students) to highlight onomastic and lexicological issues in the European space. Under the heading Academica, one can find updated information on national and international scientific events, on topics related to onomastics, lexicology and terminology. Under the heading Recent Publications, readers can find out the latest publications in these domains, as well as in related fields.

Contents

Instructions for authors
The manuscript must be written in both Romanian and a foreign language (English, French or Spanish). Authors from Romania or the Republic of Moldova will send the material in Romanian and a foreign language. Both versions will be submitted for evaluation.
Foreign authors will submit their contributions in English or French/Spanish.

Publication requirements as follows:
Title − font size 11, bold.
Name of author, affiliation and e-mail address − font size 11, bold, right.
Body of paper − font size 11, paper size Envelope B5, font Times New Roman; line spacing 1.15; footnotes, font size 9.
The abstract and five key words must be written in both English and French.
The articles of authors from Romania and the Republic of Moldova will have the abstract and five key words in Romanian as well.

Bibliography instructions
Books:
Author’s name and surname, title of work (in italics), publication place, publishing house, year. For instance:
Bidu-Vrănceanu, Angela, Lexicul specializat în mişcare. De la dicţionare la texte, Bucureşti, Editura Universităţii din Bucureşti, 2007.

Periodicals:
Author’s name and surname, title of article (in italics), title of journal (between inverted commas), issue, publication place, publishing house, year, pages.

For instance:
Manea, Constantin, Manea, Maria-Camelia, Remarks on Some Phraseological and Apophthegmatic Units in English and Romanian − Convergent and Divergent Points, in “Perspective contemporane asupra lumii medievale”, nr. 1/2009, Piteşti, Editura Tiparg, p. 104-108.

Deadline:
The period for article submission is 01.03. - 31.05, current year. The papers will be sent to the following e-mail addresses: redactiascol@gmail.com.
Reception of article will be confirmed by a message sent to the indicated e-mail address.

01.07 - 05.07 − notification of evaluation results
06.07 - 15.07 − reception of articles (translated articles, adjusted articles)
16.07 - 15.09 − preparation of contributions for publication
20.09 − contributions to be sent to the publishing house

PEER REVIEW

THE AUTHOR(S) takes full responsibility for the scientific content and the presentation of the article.

ARTICLE REVIEW will be conducted as a double-blind review within 30 days of receipt. Both versions (in Romanian and in a foreign language) will undergo the review process.

Authors will receive the evaluation result:

a) article accepted;

b) article accepted with revisions;

c) article rejected.

ARTICLE EVALUATION CRITERIA:

1) addressing a topic of interest;

2) in-depth analysis of scientific ideas;

3) originality of content;

4) alignment with the journal’s scope;

5) selection of an appropriate title;

6) up-to-date bibliography (sources cited in the text and footnotes must be included in the bibliography).

JOURNAL ETHICS

Articles accepted for publication in the journal may not be submitted to the editorial board of another journal. Manuscripts containing plagiarized passages will be rejected. Articles that have been published in other journals or volumes will not be accepted.
