The Annals of the University of Craiova. Series Philology. Linguistics of the University of Craiova, Faculty of Letters, continues the work of the “Annals of the University of Craiova. Series Philology, History, Geography”, a scientific journal established in 1972. As an independent series, with a strongly individualized linguistic profile, the journal was first published in 1996 (year XVIII). The journal publishes scientific articles and book reviews in English, French, German, Italian, Romanian and Spanish, and targets the field of linguistic research (in terms of theoretical and concrete, functional aspects, in diachrony and synchrony), along with related interdisciplinary research (sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, pragmatics, semantics, semiotics, etc.).
Over time, the position of editor-in-chief has been held by Prof. Marin Beșteliu, Prof. Doina Negomireanu and, since 2011, Prof. Cristiana Nicola Teodorescu. The scientific and editorial committee of the journal has included leading names in the field of linguistics, such as Acad. Marius Sala, Prof. Maria Iliescu, Prof. Ileana Oancea, Prof. Flora Șuteu, Prof. Ioana Murar and Prof. Gabriela Scurtu.
While, until 2011, most articles were written in Romanian, starting this year, the percentage of articles in a foreign language has increased to more than 75%, for a better integration into the international circuit. In recent years, the geographical representation of authors has also diversified, and our journal has become a leading choice for researchers from countries such as Greece, Finland, Argentina, Albania, Egypt, Singapore, Ukraine, Iraq and Kazakhstan, in addition to long-standing partners from France, Italy, Spain or the Republic of Moldova.

Each contribution submitted to our journal shall only be accepted for publication upon analysis and acceptance by at least two reviewers (university teaching staff or researchers, from Romania or abroad), specialised in the relevant linguistic field. The reviewers’ suggestions are sent to the authors by the editorial secretary, in case further (content and/or format) changes are required.
